#55. Amon Düül II – ‘Archangel Thunderbird’ (1970)

Worldly Kraut (sorry) serious rock.

If Can were the Krautrock (sorry) Beatles, then these guys and girl were the Krautrock (sorry) Led Zeppelin with all their folk and world music (sorry again) influences. This is one of the more straight-ahead, structured songs – Amon Düül II, made up of some of the more musically-inclined members of Amon Düül, are perhaps better known for their long, improvised jams that are loved by some but probably aren’t everyone’s cup of tea, even if they are mine.
