#48. David Bowie – ‘V-2 Schneider’ (1977)

I can’t just post the obvious Bowie tracks.

This mostly-instrumental jam was written as a tribute to Kraftwerk founder Florian Schneider, and for me has always been a highlight of the “Heroes” album, the middle album in Bowie’s Berlin Trilogy. But you probably knew that.

This song was also the b-Side to the ‘Heroes’ single, which, incidentally, is the Bowie ┬ásong that people are listening to the most in the wake of his passing.

  1. Interesting Krafterwerk fact, was not aware of that.

P.S. Love the Funkadelic reference in the blog’s title.

    1. Yeah, I’ve always loved this song but didn’t realise that connection until the day I posted this and did a quick Google search for any fun facts about the tune – the Kraftwerk reference seems so obvious in hindsight, ha.

Maggot Brain is my desert island album – I’ll never get tired of it.

      Thanks for subscribing!
