Left-field.
While we’re on Neu! and Krautrock, have a listen to what came after. With Michael Rother exploring the more ambient side of things, as he had already been with both Neu! and Harmonia, Klaus Dinger, as the yin to Rother’s yang, took a more melodic, dare I say, ‘rock’ approach with his first post Neu! project. The result was La Düsseldorf, and as you can hear, ‘Silver Cloud’, while no doubt reminiscent of Neu!, does away with the minimalism of that band, trading it for lush synthesisers and simple, pretty melodies, hinting towards both the punk and new wave music that was soon to emerge. Bowie was a big fan.

Love this album.
Yeah, very underrated stuff, certainly up there with some of Rother’s solo work.
