Jim Jackson and The Hats – ‘Dancin On Pink’

Here is some brilliant laid-back southern-fried goodness from Melbournites Jim Jackson and The Hats. Not Melbourne, Florida, where you might more readily expect music like this to come from. Melbourne, Australia, where I’m from and from where 95% of what I’ve written on this blog come. Ah.

‘Dancin On Pink’, despite its omission of the letter ‘g’, is, lyrically and musically, speaking, near perfect in its elision of Dr. John-esque vocal twanginess and Spindrift Spaghetti Western-ness, awash with flourishes of sleepy, meandering Anton Newcombe guitar leads.

It’s really something else.

If you like: Spindrift
